The text tells the story of Jory Unger (customer service representative) and Caleb Rushen (construction company owner). They meet when Jory arrives on his doorstep looking for his younger brother Joseph, who she wishes to talk to about the late-nights he's kept out all week with her newly-met younger sister, Missy. Joseph is not there, thus, but after Jory makes her relationship to Missy known, to her surprise, she finds an ally in the divorced Caleb, who has not liked his brother's repeated association with Missy in so short a time one bit, either! So, Jory entreats Caleb to talk to his brother about backing off on Missy and he does so, causing Joseph to slow things down with her big time. But in the course of them carrying out their plot to keep their siblings apart, things heat up with Jory and Caleb too fast for them to stop it; in fact, they've found in each other that elusive ingredient that binds a man and a woman, lets them know that each is the destiny of the other and that it was between them from their first meeting. But what's going to happen when Caleb's possessive girlfriend and secretary Yvonne, who had witnessed that first meeting, learns they've gotten involved behind her back?
